OVERCONSUMPTION : Earth Overshoot Day

July the 29th is our limit. “We have used more from nature than our planet can renew in the whole year” according to WWF.

Global Footprint Network, an international research organization that helps humanity to limitate his ecological impact, calculated this day by dividing the amount of natural resources Earth is able to generate that year by humanity’s demand.

WWF revealed that the Earth Overshoot Day comes 2 months sooner than 20 years ago ! This day is indeed coming earlier every year. How is it happening ? By draining environmental resources and heaping waste up. Our current demand requires 1,75 planet, so, we need to consider it and change our habits !

Collaboration with organic brands

Our solution allows brands to increase their performances, especially to help consumers find products but also to increase their notoriety. That is why working with organic brands help them buy more eco-aware products. With the increase of brands’ notoriety, people will be more and more keen on using these ethical products.

Except that other factors step in the buying decision. The price, for example, can be an obstacle to changing consumers’ habits. However, easing the buying process takes part in the emergence of this new reflex and in the evolution of consumption habits.

Consuming organic food does not necessarily mean spending more, but it surely is a guarantee of a better composition and taste. These products better match our physiological needs, thenceforth the lowest quantity is offset by the product’s quality.

If the consumer likes it, he will eventually want to buy it anew and most certainly try other organic brands. Therefore, the consumer becomes an ambassador of the organic world and shares our values.

We do hope that our collaboration with organic brands will convince others to work with us at changing people’s habits for a more sustainable consumption.

Digital technologies uses energy too !

Our solution allows consumers to easily access products’ availabilities. These information are gathered in one and the same solution displaying all retailers where the product is available. At the click, if the consumer selects a physical shop, he access an itinerary or if he selects a click&collect or an online shop, he will be redirected to their website.

The point of the Where to Buy solution is to spare consumers’ time as they don’t need to find products’ availabilities or local sellers’ addresses by themselves anymore. As the consumer needs less researches, he uses less energy !

Did you know that a web research is equivalent to a 60-meters car ride ?

People don’t want to bother visiting several stores before they finally find the product they wanted. Make their lives easier by allowing them to know exactly where to purchase the product in a single click. Using geolocation, Click2Buy’s solution displays the nearest retailers. And maybe they will even find a way not to go there by car !

Limitation of the pollution due to visits in shop

The Where to Buy, a solution designed to help consumers by letting them know about products’ availabilities. A more ecological process as it no longer necessitates to visit several shops before finding the wanted product. Thereby, our service limitates the ecological footprint by suppressing useless visits.

Moreover, thanks to geotracking, retailers are displayed from the closest to the most distant. The consumer can therefore choose between several retailers accessible by public transportation or by foot.

However, delivery is often considered as a problem due to the pollution it generates. A study carried out by british researchers exposed that in the case of a more than 6,7 km ride, going to shops causes more pollution than delivery. Indeed, the delivery men’s rides are optimized to deliver several consumers. This way, several orders are delivered with one and the same car, which extremely reduces polluting gas in comparison with a car per family.

Is digital advertising more ecological than print ?

Digital advertising is well-known for its efficiency as it allows to touch a very specific target unlike classic printed advertising, thanks to the highly precise data the web provides. For example, distributing flyers in the street is not as efficient as they are distributed to everybody in that localisation. Because most of this target might feel unconcerned, a lot of flyers will be thrown away or littered. These useless prints represent a considerable pollution source just as an important waste of paper.

So, even if digital consumes energy and pollutes, it still allows to reduce the ecological footprint when optimizing the efficiency of a brand’s communication. Click2Buy is in line with this measure as we print just the necessary amount of documents and on recyclable paper when occasionally we resort to print. Our solution favors digital communication more than the traditional paper one as it increases its performances.

Our team feels concerned by these ecological issues as well. Each of us tries little by little to decrease his ecological footprint. Indeed, we save paper, recycle our waste, limit plastic’s usage. Many efforts remain and will be done !
